Shihara Perera, is a Chartered Professional Façade/Structural Engineer with over 9 years’ experience in façade and structural design, assessment, construction and remedial disciplines.

Shihara has assisted the façade industry in successful project delivery through detailed analysis and specification writing for commercial, residential, and healthcare, and multipurpose projects. Her experience as a façade engineer covers detailed structural engineering design, thermal performance analysis of façade, façade specification writing, technical report writing, project management, site inspections, witnessing façade testing for structural performance and for weathertightness.

Shihara also gained expertise and experience across a range of materials including glass, steel, aluminum, and masonry and their suitability for various applications in engineering practices. She has had plenty of exposure to dealing with architects, developers, and contractors throughout the design and delivery stage of projects.

She is experienced in conducting site inspections, providing construction support, and witnessing façade testing for structural integrity and weathertightness compliance.

Her work involves a wide range of materials including glass, steel, aluminium, stone and masonry, ensuring their suitability and performance in diverse engineering applications. She has had plenty of exposure to dealing with architects, developers, and contractors throughout the design and delivery stage of projects.  She has also undertaken PhD research at the University of Melbourne, determining the behavior of various façade cladding materials subjected to hailstones impact.
